Studies on a Piezoelectric Cylindrical Transducer for Borehole Dipole Acoustic Measurements

In this article, a novel design of piezoelectric dipole transducer is proposed for formation acoustic velocity measurement in the vicinity borehole with frequency range 0.4–6 kHz. The which actuates cylindrical shell to generate pure mode wave by using multiple bender bars analyzed theoretically and simulated numerically finite element method (FEM). Moreover, fabricated tested compare numerical simulation results, shows that test results are good agreement. Finally, compared traditional transducer, it shown has higher transmitting sensitivities than commonly used ones, especially low responses. This work lays foundation new development shear measurements. Especially, slow where lower compressional fluid, could be highly efficient
